Rubber-modified sand concrete for waste management
Abstract
Sand concrete is a new material used in civil engineering to valorise natural resources such as sand. Our study aims to find a formula for sand concrete in order to use it in construction. We suggest a methodology to search for the optimal formula, based on the criteria of strength, workability and compactness. The paper examines the behaviour of a concrete modified using rubber powder. In our tests, ground rubber was added to the granular skeleton. The optimum proportion that gives the best performance was determined. Finally, an optimal formulation was proposed, and additional tests were carried out to obtain the main characteristics of the modified sand concrete.
